Peter Imwatok ousted from minority leader position after falling out with assembly top brass
Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok has been kicked out of the Minority Leader position weeks after falling out with Majority Leader Abdi Guyo and other leaders from the assembly.
His position has been given to Lower Savannah MCA Nicholas Okumu who is serving his first term as the trouble-ridden assembly.
Mr Imwatok,a vocal opposition MCA who also enjoys close political ties with ODM party leader Raila Odinga is also believed to have fallen out with Deputy Governor Ann Kananu and top executive officials in the county.
A section of ODM MCAs have recently criticized his decisions as the minority whip in relation to committees.
He was recently in the news when he called out the Kananu-led administration for making selective and humongous payments to suspect suppliers,a move that saw him rub shoulders with majority leader Abdi Guyo.
But the assembly almost turned chaotic when Mr Okumu rose on the floor to read the letter purporting to remove Mr Imwatok.
Mr Okumu rose on a point of order to notify the assembly of the letter from the party but was stopped by Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto who questioned its authenticity.
Nominated MCA Marry Arrivisa addressing members through Zoom however stated that she never saw or received a letter removing Mr Imwatok
Some MCAs appearing on Zoom and at floor of assembly welcome Okumu in replacing Imwatok
