Kelly Marina Koukai is by far the most preferred candidate for Kajiado East according to an independent survey that ranked her at 69% against her competitors who share a partly 31%.
This is attributed to her tireless efforts on the ground coupled with the popularity of the Azimio alliance under which she is vying.
Her mantra is “Development is a blend of both internal and external stakeholders coming together for a worthy cause.”
The highly respected Procurement Expert has proposed the bursary disbursement process to be digitised.
“For a long time the bursary kitty has not adequately addressed the problem of the needy and deserving cases because mostly it’s not supported by a strong framework to enhance integrity. Under the digitised program, the kitty will see transparency in the way it’s handled because at the moment politicians have been using it to score political mileage. This must stop under my Administration.”
To enhance the bursary kitty, Kelly intends to seek additional funds through partnerships and collaborations with donors.
Her second key pillar is agriculture. “Technology is moving very first and once given the chance I will align agriculture with technology for my people to benefit. I will first of all lay the foundation through drilling of boreholes to ensure adequate water for irrigation for my people.
Thirdly and most importantly, she will work to empower her people through organising them in savings and credit cooperative societies.
“First of all we shall train them on the best way to use the funds so that it can benefit them. Jiajiri initiative majors on empowering women, youths and persons living with disabilities through member contributions and savings through which they can access credit at reasonable rates.
Kajiado East and indeed the larger Kajiado has seen cases of FGM and early marriages which Hon Kelly intends to nip in the bud. This she says she will do through community involvement and nyumba kumi so that the culprits are brought to book.
She is very keen in Empowering of the Girl Child and indeed also the boy child through her pragmatic approach to education.
She called upon people to elect women leaders so that the two thirds gender principle can be achieved.
Her parting shot is for the people of Kajiado East to voter her come 9th of August and also vote Azimio Presidential Candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and her running mate Martha Karua.
