Azimio presidential flag bearer Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga has said Mumias Sugar Company will be operational in three months time.
Speaking at Khaimba Pri. groups Hon. Raila said the sugar mill will spur the development of the service sector around the factory and create jobs for the community, hence improving the socioeconomic fabric of cane farmers.
Raila added that a number of court cases involving the company have delayed the start of operations at the firm despite the economic viability of the company, a matter he said will be resolved to see the company operational in 3 months.
As they sought support for their gubernatorial ticket, FCPA Fernandes Barasa and his deputy Hon. Ayub Savula said they are best placed to oversee the operationalization of the company given their experiencehence. They were accompanied by legislators allied to the Azimio coalition, led by the outgoing Kakamega governor Dr. Wycliffe Oparanya.
