Jubilee Party has blamed ODM for reneging on the agreement related to distribution of committee slots in the assembly.

The parties are under the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party and are said to have agreed on how to share committee  leadership slots.

The coalition party is the majority in the assembly which means it is in charge of lucrative committees among them the Finance,Budget and Appropriation Committee.

According to insider reports, the leadership of the Budget Committee was to be taken over by Jubilee and specifically Kariobangi South MCA Robert Mbatia.

However ,Mabitini MCA Wilfred Odalo was on Friday elected the chairperson of the Budget committee after members reached consensus. Mr Odalo served as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee ( PAC) for five years in the last assembly.

It has also emerged that the ODM party had written to speaker Ken Ngondi on the need to have Jubilee take over the Budget committee.

A Jubilee official who sought anonymity said that the party will reach out to the coalition leadership over the matter.

“ A letter was written to the speaker and it is clear that ODM has shortchanged Jubilee in broad daylight,” the official said.

The official said that it was shocking that ODM took over both the chairman and vice chair position which was given to nominated MCA Emily Oduor.

“ It is interesting because they are all from the same party and region yet this is Nairobi the capital city,”
However, while addressing the media,Odalo said that his opponent dropped out of the race.

“I’m overwhelmed by the level of trust and confidence the budget committee has in me. My main opponent dropped out and this shows how my colleagues trust me with the task,” Odalo said.

Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura was elected PAC chair while his counterpart from  California Hashim Kamau will lead the Public Investments Committee (PIC).
