The Safari Tour golf series tees off, Saturday, 5th November with a Pro-Am match at Limuru Golf Country Club. The Pro-Am is an integral part of the Tour and shall be played on the day before the commencement of the second round of the Safari Golf Tour on Sunday 6th November to 9th November 2022. Leading up to the final event played at Muthaiga Golf Club in February 2023, just a few weeks before the 2023 Kenya Open Championship that will be played at Muthaiga Golf Club as part of the DP World Tour (formerly known as European Tour).
Speaking during the match tournament Director Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) Mr. Patrick Obath commented ‘’We introduced the idea of a professional golf tour in Kenya and included our junior golfers of either gender and our select amateur golfers together with our brothers from the East African region. Our primary focus with the Safari Tour is to give our local and regional golf amateurs an opportunity to compete and be mentored by professional golfers to build their skills as they grow into pro golfers.’’
“I am pleased with the number of registered amateur players that will take part in this match today.’’ Mr. Obath added that the game will start very early with golfers teeing off from 7.30 am. He noted that the club is in good condition and the fairway is tight and the roughs are equally rough. He advised the players to keep the ball in the fairway if they want to excel. He noted that the greens are also pretty fast from his experience.
After Limuru, the circuit moves to Vipingo Ridge, in Kilifi County on 26th-30th November 2022. The pro-am is a dream for any amateur Golfer where they get an opportunity to play with mainly top European professionals who grace the Kenya Open.
