The Movement for Defense and Democracy (MDD) has refuted claims that the outfit is an outlawed group with the objective of disrupting public order.

Addressing the media on Thursday, MDD founder Antony Manyara explained that the outfit which was launched by Azimio La Umoja Coalition Leader Raila Odinga during last Sunday’s Public Consultative Forum held in Kamukunji grounds, Kibra a rebel group has a two-point agenda.

He clarified the movement provides the youth with a platform created to fight for electoral reforms and pressure the Government to step up efforts to improve the cost of living.

‘We are only out to fight for what is ailing the country. We are just echoing what the common mwananchi is saying. This includes the high cost of living, hard economic times and several other issues affecting the country at large but not what is being said out there,’ Manyara explained.

Manyara who was flanked by several MDD leaders and the outfit’s members also added that they will not stop advocating for what is right for the nation and that there presence in Raila Odinga’s pressure rallies will continue to be seen.

He also called on the government to release more of the Higher Education Loans Board funds to university students saying that comrades in public university are suffering due to lack of funds.

MDD also called on the government to stop politics of the day and focus on working for Kenyans and ensuring that the high cost of living currently facing Kenyans is brought down.
