The Director of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry [KNCCI] Mombasa chapter Abud Jamal has been elected new chairperson.

Jamal was elevated to take over from his immediate boss Mustafa Ramadhan who is seeking to vie for the the position of KNCCI Vice President currently being held by Dr Eric Ruto.

He was declared chairperon unopposed during AGM held at CityBlue Creekside Hotel & Suites in  Mombasa County.

The exercise was presided over by KNCCI IEB Regional Commissioner Festus Mundi who saw KNCCI Jacqueline Waihenya being elected vice chairperson in her absence.

Ruto has formed a formable line up against the chamber President Richard Ngatia who is seeking re-election during  the June 8 AGM.

He is out to unseat incumbent Ngatia who he had supported during last year’s AGM.

While addressing the media after being declared chairman unopposed Jamal said he has what it takes to move  the chamber to the next level.

Jamal refuted claims he was a stranger in the chamber circle and sought to put the record straight that before he was elevated he had served in several positions of leadership in the KNCCI.

He defended his track record saying he has served several associations in different capacities before before his current position.

“I am a holder of a Masters Degree in Maritime affairs from the University of Maritime in Sweden,” he pointed out.

The newly elected county chamber boss said he has what it takes to move the chamber to the next level.

Jamal told the media he is from from the background of the blue economy and maritime and assured his members he will do his best.
