Education Committee Root for Multi Agency Approach in Fighting Exam Cheating
The National Assembly Education Committee chaired by Hon Julius Melly (Tinderet) is rooting for a multi-agency approach to curb national exam cheating in schools.
The chairperson who spoke after a meeting with Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) officials and their counterparts from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), emphasised that no effort should be spared in fighting the vice.
“We will win the war against cheating in national exams if we all combine forces. We should take every available chance to fight the menace seriously,” said Hon Melly.
At the meeting, CAK Director General Ezra Chiloba and DCI Director David Birech made their submissions before the committee, which is conducting an inquiry into allegations of cheating in last year’s KCSE exams.
However in their presentations, they did not adequately respond to some questions posed by committee members .
Hon Melly directed them to appear before the Committee on Thursday, July 6 with detailed answers to specific questions raised by the lawmakers.
