Nairobi Members of County Assembly have called on Governor Johnson Sakaja to issue out the bursary funds applied for third term.

Led by Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Themendu alias Mo Fire the City legislators have asked Sakaja not to pile the bursaries for this last term of 2023 with the first term of next year.

“Most of us except a few represent members from informal settlements whom without the intervention of the government will leave over 50,000 students as drop outs due to lack of school of fees. As the national examinations continue let the bursaries be out to ensure smooth transitioning from secondary school to tertiary education,” said Mo Fire.

Moving the motion that is compelling the county executive to disburse the funds, Themendu complained that despite the assembly playing its role by passing budget, the county continues to face problems related to lack of funds, which, according to the legislator, is sarcastic.

“It’s quite unfortunate that county government on its first year in office has opted to cause this delays. Release the money before our children finish the exams,” he added.
