Accused Mohamed Ibrahim Shakur Pleads Illness, Defense Seeks Continuation of Police Bond
The plea hearing for a 2.1 million fraud case involving a director of a real estate company has been postponed to November 29, 2023.
During the court session before Trial Magistrate Benard Ochoi, the defense lawyer informed the court that the accused, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Shakur, fell ill while in custody. Considering the accused’s age, the defense requested the court to allow Mr. Shakur to remain on a police bond of 100,000 thousand.
Mr. Shakur was set to face charges on two counts, including obtaining goods by false pretense.
The primary charge alleges that between October 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, in Kilimani within Nairobi County, Republic of Kenya, Mr. Shakur, along with others not currently before the court but identified as directors of Bushra Real Estate, conspired to defraud Alliance Concrete Limited of mixed concrete valued at Ksh 2,133,530 (Two million, one hundred and thirty-three thousand, five hundred and thirty Kenyan Shillings).
