Man Kills Kin Over Boundary Row In Kaptama
By Isabella Maua
A 48- year-old man from Kapchebon village in Kaptama ward, Mount Elgon Sub County, was killed by a relative early this week over a quarrel on land.
Confirming the incident, Mt. Elgon Sub County Police Commander, Robert Makau said that the man known as Moses Maasai was beaten thoroughly by his relative Douglas Maasai after a misunderstanding over land boundaries.
“”We received a call from Edson Maasai, Assistant Chief Chesito, on Tuesday night who reported a serious misunderstanding and fight between the two relatives, observing that Moses was in a critical condition; he was later rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret, where he succumbed to injuries on early Wednesday morning,” noted Makau.
He, on the other hand, revealed that the perpetrator, who is on the run, is still at large, though the case is already under investigation with the DCI, and the wananchi are also on the lookout for him.
However, he warned the locals not to take any matters into their own hands but to surrender the suspect to the nearest police station when apprehended.
Makau also advised the locals to avoid fights but rather solve land disputes amicably.
