With nine Football Kenya Federation (FKF) premier league matches remaining for the season to end, defending champs Gor Mahia are still leading with seven points clear.

FKF league takes a break in line with Fédération Internationale de Football Association, the international governing body of football associations.

The much-awaited AGM roadmap to the FKF 2024 election will be held this weekend in Nairobi with the subject being the presidential race to succeed incumbent Nick Mwendwa. The incumbent’s tenure will come to an end this August.

Sam Nyamweya, Hussein Mohamed and Twaha Mbarak are among aspirants who want to succeed Mwendwa who is unlikely to be on the ballot box after the FKF AGM.

Others expected to be in the August race include former Kenya international player Sammy Owino alias Kempes and FKF CEO Barry Otieno.

Meanwhile Gor says they are frustrated losing to Bandari 1-0.

Losing to the coastal-based team 1-0 during last weekend’s league match played in Mombasa is a big frustration to the Green Army.

Gor Mahia coach, Johnathan McKinstry said it is a long journey back to the capital city with empty hands after wasting chances during the match against the hosts.

The team’s focus is now their encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz after the three weeks break.

Meanwhile, Bandari Football Club is still shopping for a ground for the remaining league matches as the famous Mbaraki Sports playing field is undergoing major renovations. The old venue will be used during the next season.

The last encounter at the home ground was last weekend after hosting defending champs Gor Mahia.

A team of FKF officials are expected to pitch tent at the coast region with efforts to identity a suitable venue in line with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rules.
