Government can’t run away from its responsibility – Clergy

The government has the responsibility to handle challenges facing the country instead of avoiding them, a cleric has said.
Leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa Martin Kivuva Musonde asked the government to face the problems the country is encountering at the moment.
He pointed out that the country should not run away from the crises the country is facing.
“Let’s have the courage and face the challenges the country is facing,” he added.
Kivuva urged those in government positions to learn how to resolve the problems the country is facing.
He was speaking when he led Christian faithful in carrying the cross from the Holy Ghost Cathedral to the streets to mark this year’s Good Friday in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.
The Catholic priest asked the government to engage with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) to end the doctors’ strike.
Kivuva pointed out that this is the only way the country can chart the way forward cautioning that declining to engage in talks cannot bring about a solution.
He asked those in positions of responsibility to take their responsibilities seriously for the country to move forward.
“I am perturbed by the rate of corruption in the country which affects the life and livelihood of taxpayers,” he said.
The Catholic priest told the media graft might affect revenue collection due to lack of trust in the administration.
