Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has refuted claims that he is at war with leaders from  both Meru and  Embu on the muguka menace.
He sought to put the record straight that he is in a fight against the stimulant.
“I have no issues with the leaders in the counties where the product is grown,” he clarified.
Abdulswamad said it has been scientifically proven that the stimulant has harmful effects on the youth.
He was addressing the media during Eid-Al-Adha prayers held at  the  famous Ronald Ngala Primary School grounds in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.
The Governor said the consumption level of muguka among the youth is at 30 percent.
Abdulswamad defended their decision to ban the stimulant in the coast region where children below the age of 18 are consuming the product.
He pointed out they have no regrets for taking a firm stand on the ban of muguka in the region.
“The problem the current leaders have in comparison to leaders in previous years is inaction,” he said.
The county boss told journalists failure by the current leaders in the region to take action will lead to things moving from bad to worse.
Abdulswamad has predicted things might become worse than currently if there is failure to address the consumption of the stimulant in the coast region.
