Mombasa residents braved the chilly weather and rains to take part in a demonstration against the controversial Finance Bill 2024 which is currently being debated at the floor of the National Assembly.

The demonstrators brought business within the central business district (CBD) area to a standstill.

The demonstrators were singing a chorus against the Bill urging legislators to reject it instead of making some amendments.

They were carrying placards and banners against the bill asking the lawmakers to reject the bill in totality.

The entire day was reduced into a running battle between the police and the protestors.

At one stage police were forced to use teargas canisters against the demonstrators which did not deter the demonstrators.

The demonstrators staged protests at every corner of the CBD area to confuse the police.

The day was turned into a cat and mouse chase and a hide and seek game between the police and the demonstrators.

Journalists had a hectic time to cover the day’s event as they were caught between the two sides amid confusion and melee.

The famous Nkrumah Road roundabout was the centre of operation for the protectors.

Politicians and humans rights activists were kept out of the day’s event with youths calling the shots in the day’s action along the streets.
