Kenya’s Innovators Shine in TikTok’s Visionary Voices Africa List
TikTok, the leading short-form video platform, has announced its inaugural Visionary Voices List for Africa, recognizing 15 exceptional individuals who are at the forefront of industry-shifting innovation, viral trends, and cultural representation.
These honorees are celebrated for their significant impact on media, entertainment, and culture across the continent, and they are categorized into Creators, Small-Owned Businesses, and Industry Disruptors.
The Creators category acknowledges those who have captivated audiences with engaging and dynamic content.
Among them are Elsa Majimbo, a Kenyan comedian known for her satirical monologues; Banele Ndaba (Moghelingz), whose relatable sketches celebrate African culture; Chad Jones, who creates dance videos with his family; Arap Uria, a sports content creator with a large following; and Iremide, a Nigerian digital creator focusing on lifestyle and education.

The Small-Owned Businesses category honors entrepreneurs using TikTok to showcase their unique products and services.
Notable figures include Mwangi Muthoni of Dreadlocks Nairobi, Kayla Kim Kay, CEO of Afrocurl, Blaqboi Victor, a filmmaker and actor, Bolo Bespoke, a fashion designer from Nairobi, and Alexa Schempers of the fashion label Rethread.

The Industry Disruptors category recognizes individuals challenging conventional industries with innovative perspectives.
This includes Burna Boy, a Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artist; Hilda Baci, a multifaceted entrepreneur and Guinness World Record holder; Popi Sibiya, a travel vlogger; The Joy, a musical group blending traditional Zulu beats with modern acapella; and Uncle Waffles, a Swazi-born DJ celebrated for her amapiano music and viral dance challenges.
