Is Sakaja seeking Raila’s protection over looming impeachment
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has for the past two weeks been seen severally with ODM leader Raila Odinga with reports on a looming impeachment against him growing into a possibility.
Sakaja’s meetings with Raila have raised eyebrows but his critics believe he is seeking Raila’s help in taming ODM MCAs at the assembly.
The event meeting saw the two enjoy nice time together at the lake side, just a day after Sakaja was spotted attending an event where Mr Odinga hosted the Sakwa Awendo delegation from Migori at Kango Ka Jaramogi homestead in Bondo, Siaya.
Raila’s ODM party holds the majority positions at the assembly and this means in one way or another,he has the key to blocking any plan to impeach the governor.
Some unconfirmed reports had indicated that Sakaja is among the few Kenyans helping Mr.Odinga fundraise enough money for his Africa Union Commision Presidential campaigns but an MCA from the Orange party says this is all about the impeachment.
” Let us call a spade a spade and not a big spoon, the governor wants to be protected because he has failed to keep his promises to MCAs and the only way is to seek protection from the top,” the second time legislator said.
The governor is facing various political and administrative tribulations and challenges that could trigger an impeachment. The latest is a letter from a city lawyer to Nairobi speaker Ken Ngondi demanding immediate release of the ad-hoc committee report on revenue collection.
