Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the government of blocking him from attending this year’s Mashujaa day celebrations held in Kwale county.
He said his efforts to get a helicopter to travel to Kwale to attend the celebrations were also thwarted by the government.
“I tried to hire a helicopter from Wilson Airport in Nairobi but I was blocked from doing so by the government,” he said.
Gachagua said apart from his security detail being withdrawn the helicopter owners were also warned not to fly him to attend the celebrations.
He was speaking after being discharged from Karen hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted after falling ill.
The impeached Deputy President added the move to impeach him was an effort to prevent him from attending the celebrations in Kwale which President Wiliam Ruto presided over.
Gachagua, who was flanked by Wiper leaders, insisted to make matters worse Wilson airport was a no go zone for him for part of the day.
He pointed an accusing finger at the Head of State alleging that in in case anything happens to him or his family the President should be held responsible.
“The government has withdrawn my security detail while I was still admitted at the hospital,” he disclosed.
The impeached Deputy President told the media he had trusted President Ruto but he has betrayed him saying for the past year under the Head of State life has not been the same.
Gachagua disclosed that nobody in the coalition package trusted him when forming the Kenya Kwanza administration apart from him.
