Public Works PS Joel Arumoyang is 2nd Top Performing in Kenya

Elijah Mwangi, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Mining in the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs has been ranked the top performing PS in the country according to Microtrak Africa polls.

This has been attributed by his achievements in the department including: Partial lifting of moratorium, a four-year moratorium on mineral rights, which led to a surge in license applications.

The launch of the Base Resources project is expected to account for 14% of global rutile production, which could boost Kenya’s GDP by 0.6%.

Coming second in the polls is Joel Arumonyang, the Principal Secretary for the Department of Public Works.

The survey evaluated various Principal Secretaries based on criteria including efficiency, impact, and accountability within their respective departments.

Arumonyang’s recognition reflects his department’s achievements in infrastructure and public service improvements.

His leadership has been credited for driving key projects that align with Kenya’s development goals, enhancing public service delivery, and setting benchmarks in transparency and accountability.

The award has drawn praise from industry stakeholders and colleagues, with many citing Arumonyang as a role model for public service excellence. Microtrak Africa’s findings underscore the importance of impactful leadership in government roles, particularly in essential departments like Public Works.
