Government Given 24 hours Ultimatum to Release Abducted Youths Countrywide
Lydia warned the government that abductions won’t stop the youths but will instead fuel the rage.
A section of youths drawn from the coast region have shown solidarity with those abducted countrywide by condemning the government action.
They demanded their release without any conditions within 24 hours saying its inhuman to detain them.
Led by Lydia Adhiambo, they said it’s regrettable that instead of having fun during this year’s festive season they are condemning the abductions carried out by the government.
They were addressing the media on the state of abduction of youths at Haki Africa office in Mombasa county.
Lydia warned the government that abductions won’t stop the youths but will instead fuel the rage.
“Keeping quiet will encourage the government to continue with its trend,” she pointed out.
The human rights activists said they wonder why those abducted are government critics warning that they are not ready to go back to the dark era.
Lydia said they wonder why those talking about femicide are not arrested but are instead roughed up along the streets by police officers.
She told journalists that government critics are walking in fear saying they are tired of walking in the streets while frequently looking back for fear of being abducted.
“On Monday we shall hold mass protects demanding the government to release our colleagues,” she announced.
On his part Waheed Skakte told the media they have resolved to carry out citizen arrests against those found arresting anyone without proper identification.
He said they have resolved to deal with those behind the disappearance of youths on their own.
“We are law abiding citizens and we are ready to take them to court,” he pointed out.
