In a letter to the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, Nyambura cited personal reasons for her decision.
Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Nyambura has declined her nomination as Kenya’s ambassador to Ghana.
In a letter to the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, Nyambura cited personal reasons for her decision.
She was due to appear before the Committee chaired by Belgium MP Nelson Koech which is conducting approval hearings for the nominees.
Koech said it was regrettable that for a second time , a nominee has declined the Ghana job.
"I wish to inform you that I will not appear ocassioned by personal and compelling reasons," Nyambura wrote to the Committee through the Clerk of the National Assembly.
“To save precious time of the committee, this letter serves as notice that I will not attend.”
This is the second time a nominee is declining a nomination to Ghana.
Last year, former West Mugirango MP Vincent Mogaka Kemosi declined his nomination as the country’s High Representative to Accra, Ghana.
Nyambura who was dropped from cabinet following the youth led countrywide protests was nominated on December 20, 2024 to represent the country in Ghana.
She served at the ICT for four months. Others nominated included Ababu Namwamba (United Nations Office, Nairobi), Andrew Karanja (Brazil) and Noor Gabow (Haiti).
