Members of President William Ruto’s associates in the broad-based government, ODM  Party are demanding the Majority side leadership in the  National Assembly and have asked Speaker Moses Wetang’ula to abide by Friday’s court ruling declaring the Azimio Coalition as the majority party in parliament.

Minority Whip Millie Odhiambo took to her social media after the ruling, asking her followers to refer to her as the Majority Whip from today henceforth, something that was supported by Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, a close associate of Raila Odinga, who told Speaker Wetangula to be bold and respect the courts.

“Speaker ⁦@HonWetangula⁩, be bold, respect the court’s pronouncement and Declare Junet Mohamed as Majority Leader and Bad Girl Millie as the Majority Whip,” Senator Oketch wrote on X.

His remarks were supported by the ODM National Vice-Chairperson of ODM Dr. John Ariko, also the Turkana South MP who welcomed the ruling, and further noted how the much-awaited justice by ODM, even though late, had arrived.

”The long awaited justice though delayed is here. ODM welcomes the court ruling and we advise Hon. Speaker Moses Wetangula to quickly officialize the changes and desist from appealing in court. We Demand reorganization of the house with immediate effect,” the Turkana South MP said.

On Friday, while sitting in Nairobi’s Mlimani Court, a High Court bench comprising Justices John Chigiti, Lawrence Mugambi, and Jairus Ngaah, declared Kenya Kwanza is not the majority party in the National Assembly. A ruling with immense implications, including the risk of re-organizing the entire Parliament leadership.
