Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has hinted at joining Raila Odinga’s ODM ahead of 2027, a move that could have huge political ramifications not only for the orange party but also for the ruling UDA.

Speaking on  Monday at the Bomas of Kenya, while attending prayers for Raila Odinga’s AUC bid,  organized by ODM Women, the Nairobi County chief told ODM supporters present to read the signs of the times, subtly giving a hint of his move.

”I have to respond to the requests made to me. I want to say that the signs of rainfall are heavy clouds and whoever has eyes should not be reminded to read the signs. We are together in this,” said Sakaja.

Leaders present, including Azimio leader Raila Odinga praised Governor Sakaja for working closely with ODM.

Referring to Sakaja as his “son”,Mr. Odinga told  ODM members in the capital to stay united and strong,  while he is away, as the governor would oversee all political matters.

“I want Nairobi to remain united and strong. My son here will take charge,” he , gesturing toward Sakaja during a prayer meeting at the Bomas of Kenya.
