Waititu Barred From Public Office, Handed 12 Year Sentence In 588M Graft Case

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Thursday was sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay Ksh. 52.5 million after being found guilty of conflict of interest in a Ksh.588 million graft case.
The court said he influenced the award of the multi-million tender to Testimony Enterprises Limited associated with his wife even though it did not qualify for the tender.
In the sentencing at Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, the ex-county chief was similarly barred from vying for any political seat for a period of 7 years.
His wife Susan Ndung’u with whom he was charged was slapped with a one-year imprisonment or pay a fine of Ksh.500,000 shillings.
Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki delivered the sentence on Thursday.
