ODM At 20: Raila’s Party Celebrates Two Decades of Political Struggle

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) marked its 20th anniversary in Busia County with celebrations attended by party leader Raila Odinga and various key figures.
Even as the party celebrates 20 years, there is anticipation around ODM leader Raila Odinga’s potential major political announcement regarding his political future, which some speculate might involve a pact with President William Ruto.
Speaking in Busia this afternoon, Raila Odinga said the orange party has firm principles that it has stood on for the last twenty years and that they (ODM) will not follow anyone blindly.
After his failed AUC bid, Raila Odinga said he is “widely consulting” before announcing his next political move.
On Monday, he held private talks with President William Ruto at State House in Mombasa before travelling to Kisumu, to meet leaders and elders.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, he met with elders and youth leaders from Siaya and Migori counties, assuring them that he will make a comprehensive statement about his political future in the coming days. He was in Homa Bay County yesterday, and Busia today Friday.
