Nyayo Stadium Sold Out Ahead of Crucial Kenya Vs Gabon Clash

The highly anticipated  2026 FIFA World Cup-qualifier match between Kenya and Gabon has been sold out hours after the start of online ticket sales ahead of the Sunday 23rd March 2025, game in Nairobi.

Coming off a dramatic 3-3 draw against the Gambia, Harambee Stars welcome The Panthers at the Nyayo stadium tomorrow and will need to win their remaining matches to have a chance of reaching the tournament.

In a social media post on Saturday  Federation of Kenya Football President Hussein Mohammed revealed only regular tickets for the game were available with VVIP and VIP tickets having all sold out.

“VVIP and VIP tickets fully sold out, only regular tickets available selling at a high speed, secure your tickets before the deadline today, there will be strictly no ticket sales tomorrow, gates will open at 11AM, lets pack Nyayo Stadium tomorrow to cheer on The Harambee Stars Harambee Stars,” FKF president Hussein Mohammed wrote on X.

Stars Captain Michael Olunga last week Thursday hailed the team’s spirit ahead of the crucial match and believes the team’s unity and attacking mindset will be vital as they return to competitive home action for the first time since 2021.

“The team character and spirit was good, and this is what the coach told us and instilled in us that we had. Each and every player is important, and whoever gets a chance to play needs to be of the same mindset. This was evident in the last game,”  the Kenyan captain said.

However, Harambee Stars’ new coach Benni McCarthy expects a difficult game on Sunday.

Kenya is fourth in Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, six points behind second-placed Gabon.
