Inside Gachagua, Matiang’i, Karua, Kalonzo,Tuesday Talks
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday joined top opposition figures, including PDP’s Martha Karua for a crucial meeting in Nairobi.
According to reports, the leaders held the first meeting after a series of engagements in the background, some of which were coordinated by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
While former President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party is fronting Dr. Fred Matiang’i as its flagbearer, Kalonzo’s Wiper, DAP-Kenya, People’s Liberation Party (PLP), and the soon-to-be-unveiled Rigathi Gachagua’s party, will also field their presidential candidates, after which the coalition will pick a single torchbearer to face President Ruto in 2027.
In a social media update, Gachagua said the team that also comprises former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is committed to liberating Kenya.
“The team to liberate Kenya gets bigger every day. Welcome, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Hon. JB Muturi and Hon. Mithika Linturi. You are on the right side of history,” he said.
