In a bold political move that signals the beginning of a fierce race to the 2027 general election, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the formation of a new opposition coalition during a rally held on May 29, 2025, in Tseikuru, Mwingi North, Kitui County.

The highly anticipated announcement came at Kalonzo’s rural home, where thousands of supporters gathered to witness what could mark the beginning of a new political chapter in Kenya.

The two leaders, who have historically played pivotal roles in national politics, declared their intent to unite opposition forces across the country and unseat President William Ruto.

“We are here to make it clear that President Ruto will be a one-term president. The people of Kenya deserve leadership that listens, leadership that unites, and leadership that puts citizens first,” said Kalonzo Musyoka, address.
