In a significant boost to Kenya-Slovenia bilateral relations, Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar has expressed profound admiration for Kenya’s role on the global stage during her state visit to Nairobi on May 31, 2025. Speaking at State House alongside President William Ruto, President Musar praised Kenya’s commitment to multilateralism, peace, and sustainable development, underscoring the shared vision between the two nations.
“I’m more than happy to be here because both President Ruto and I believe deeply in multilateralism,” President Musar said. She emphasized the urgency of collaborative global action, noting the importance of addressing crises spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, including the ongoing war in Ukraine and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The Slovenian leader also highlighted key areas of cooperation between the two countries, including climate action, innovation, and technological advancement. She commended Kenya’s ambitious reforestation goal of planting 15 billion trees, calling it “a gift not just to Kenya but to the entire planet.”
Additionally, she praised the Space-SI satellite partnership, which enhances flood prediction and river monitoring, as an exemplary model of environmental innovation.
President Musar expressed optimism about expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and water management, pointing out ongoing efforts by Slovenian firms to improve water efficiency in Kenya.
President Ruto welcomed the visit as a milestone in bilateral ties, reaffirming the need to reform global institutions to better reflect today’s realities. He highlighted Kenya’s preparations to host the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in July, a platform both nations will use to advocate for fairer global financing mechanisms.
The visit concluded with President Musar extending an invitation to President Ruto to visit Slovenia, signaling a new chapter of partnership between Nairobi and Ljubljana—one rooted in innovation, shared values, and a commitment to global progress.
