The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has condemned recent political statements on alleged election malpractices in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, calling them reckless and misleading.

In a statement issued on Sunday July 13, 2025, the Commission warned that such statements made outside an official election period risk inciting unnecessary public anxiety.

“These claims are not only unfounded but also dangerous in a democratic society such as ours,” the IEBC noted.

“We urge all Kenyans to disassociate themselves from such statements and focus on strengthening, not weakening, our democracy.”

IEBC clarified that it has not announced any elections and that the country is not currently in a campaign period, adding that there is no legal or constitutional basis for election-related propaganda or politically charged rhetoric.
