President William Ruto is preparing for an official visit to the United States, where he is expected to pursue new partnerships in the creative economy and strengthen diplomatic ties.
Speaking on Friday, August 15, the President said one of the highlights of his trip will be a meeting with organisers of the Grammy Awards to explore the establishment of world-class music production studios in Kenya.
“We are taking Kenyan talent global,” Ruto said.
“I intend to meet with Grammy stakeholders to initiate a long-term plan that will position Kenya as a center for music innovation and production in Africa.”
The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to grow the creative economy as a source of jobs and youth empowerment. If successful, the partnership could see training programs, artist exchanges, and advanced recording infrastructure set up in Kenya.
During his U.S. visit, the President is also expected to hold meetings in Los Angeles, the home of the Grammy Awards, and later travel to Washington, D.C., for discussions with U.S. officials and business leaders.
The trip comes shortly after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua concluded a separate visit to the United States, where he met members of the Kenyan diaspora and engaged with various institutions.
