Police in Nairobi have launched investigations into a tragic and disturbing incident in Pipeline estate, where a man is alleged to have killed his wife and subsequently assaulted their domestic worker.
According to the family of the late Susan Nabwire, they are struggling to come to terms with the brutal killing of their 27-year-old daughter, describing her death as both senseless and deeply painful.
The suspect, who is an ex-police officer is said to have committed the act on the night of August 13, 2025, at their rented residence in the Kware area.
On the fateful night, Cyprian Mukoye returned home in what the house help describes as “a bad mood”, suspecting that his wife was having an affair.
It is reported that the 44-year-old man quarrelled with his wife and demanded her phone, passwords and M-Pesa PIN.
“They started arguing and he slapped Susan, asking for her cellphone. He then threatened her that if she wouldn’t give him the PIN, he would kill her,” said Philice Makokha, the mother to the deceased, told Citizen TV.
“The wife refused to give him the PIN number, and he went to the bedroom. Akatoa nguo akajipiga picha then akaanza kuambia mke wake atoe nguo aje wajipige picha pia.”
According to the house help, everything seemed to have returned to normalcy, until Mukoye woke up at around 3 am, went to the bathroom and returned with an axe.
It is at this point that the former police officer struck his wife –operated as an M-Pesa agent within Machakos Country Bus in Nairobi — on the neck with the axe, leaving him with a deep wound, collapsing to the floor.
“Walipigana usiku na Susan, baadaye aliingia bafuni na kuleta shoka. Alimkata na shoka kwa shingo alafu baadaye akamkata hapa kichwa. Kisha akaenda akachukua kamba akaanza kumnyonga nayo; akachukua kisu akaanza kumdunga karibu na macho akisema kuwa atamuua akiona,” Makokha added.
After the macabre killing, Mukoye is said to have turned to his house help and raped her, with all these happening in full glare of their one-year-old child.
After committing the unspeakable, Mukoye is said to have locked the house help, his child and his wife’s body inside the house before confiscating all the mobile phones and dissapearing.
When police were called to the scene, they were forced to break the door. They took the body to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary.
Police arrested the suspect on Saturday, August 23, and he is currently detained at Embakasi Police Station.
