Mystery surrounds an incident where the CEO of IT solutions company Com Twenty One, Evans Mwaura Githua, died by suspected suicide.
Githua reportedly jumped from the 14th floor of a building along Kasuku Road in Nairobi.
He had been missing from his Runda home for a day.
Police believe Githua, 51, died after he jumped from the 14th floor of a short-stay room with the aim of dying.
He had also injured himself by cutting his veins in his hands and was alone at the time. The door to his room was locked from inside when police arrived at the scene.
The death shocked many friends, colleagues, and family members when Githua’s body was was discovered on December 23 afternoon behind an apartment. It is not clear what motivated his actions.
Entry into his room was gained by breaking the door since it was closed from inside, police who had been informed of the incident said.
His body had visible injuries, which included a broken right leg, head injury, injuries on both wrists which appeared to have been inflicted by a sharp object/material, and a deep hand cut.
Police said there was a pool of blood spilled all over the room, extending to the washrooms, wardrobes, and bed, with the entire room being disturbed. One of the seats was found in the shower area with a towel, indicating attempts of suicide, police said.
Police recovered clothes, two mobile phones all set to flight mode, and a bag containing personal effects.
The owner of the room informed police that the deceased checked into the apartment on December 22, 2025, at about 8 pm alone. The guards said no one joined him.
The family of the deceased said they were worried when he did not go home on Monday and his mobile phones were offline, which was unusual.
Police concluded he died by suicide through blood loss by cutting his veins and later throwing himself through the window.
Police arrived at the scene and transported the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
His friends described him as a jovial man.
