Siaya Senator James Orengo on Friday snubbed ODM leader Dr Oburu Oginga and Interior PS Raymond Omollo, who held a widows’ empowerment drive at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Siaya.
According to reports, Governor Orengo, who has been against the ODM party’s pact with President Ruto skipped the event by PS Omollo so that he is not seen as having softened his stance on UDA working with ODM.
Last week, Orengo called out a section of senior ODM leaders for fraternizing with President William Ruto’s administration under the guise of the broad-based agreement, terming it a ‘cowardly’ move.
Separately, President Ruto on Sunday hinted at his readiness to join hands with the ODM party for 2027 elections.
Speaking in Homabay, where he was the chief guest at the Governors cup (Genowa) tournament, the head of state disclosed preparations were underway to put a framework in place for a potential new political alliance. between the ruling party and ODM.
“ODM should get ready and form a pact with us so that we go to 2027 as a team. UDA and Kenya Kwanza are also ready to join hands and form a government with you and make Kenya a first-world country,” Ruto said.
