A section of ODM leaders wants Narok Senator Ledama Olekina installed as the party’s Secretary General.

According to multiple sources within the party, members supporting the broad-based government want Edwin Sifuna to step down from the position claming he has gone against the party’s stance of supporting the ten-point MoU between ODM and UDA.

They also want Sifuna removed as the Senate’s Deputy Minority whip.

Speaking in Murang’a on Saturday, January 3, Sifuna accused some senior political figures of the party, including Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed, of auctioning the party to President Ruto, and betraying the late Raila Odinga in the 2022 general election.

On the other hand, Junet, also the ODM Minority leader in the National Assembly, has fingered former President Uhuru Kenyatta for trying to split the outfit using proxies, led by Senator Sifuna.
