A 19-year-old woman is receiving emergency medical care after collapsing while travelling from Kisumu County to Nairobi.

Reginah Talia Luvonka was returning to the city for work after the Christmas break when the incident occurred. According to witnesses, Ms Luvonka began complaining of severe abdominal pain shortly after the Guardian Coach bus left Katito.

Her condition deteriorated rapidly, causing her to lose consciousness.
The bus driver, identified as Henry, and fellow passengers administered first aid in a display of quick thinking.

When she failed to regain consciousness, they diverted the vehicle and rushed her to Siloam Hospital in Bomet.

David Ndolo, a People Daily journalist travelling on the same bus (registration KBW 509P), praised the crew’s responsiveness.

“She experienced discomfort, dizziness and nausea prior to losing consciousness,” Ndolo stated. ‘I want to thank the driver, Henry, for prioritising her life and ensuring she received medical attention quickly.’
