Kenya has claimed the overall championship at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, finishing first among 15 nations with nine medals across junior and senior categories.

The team secured two individual gold medals, one team gold, one individual silver, three team silvers and two individual bronze medals at the event that concluded on Saturday.

Frankline Kibet led a historic Kenyan sweep of the Under-20 men’s 8km podium, winning gold in 23:18.

Emmanuel Kiprono took silver in 23:20 while Andrew Kiptoo sealed the sweep with bronze in 23:28.

The performance earned Kenya team gold in the category.

Agnes Ngetich dominated the senior women’s 10km race, claiming gold in 31:28.

The women’s team collected silver in the team standings with 39 points.

Daniel Ebenyo won bronze in the senior men’s 10km in 28:45, with Kenya’s men’s team taking silver in the team rankings with 34 points.
