The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has warned the public against engaging with Ezekiel Mutua, saying he no longer holds any position or authority within the organisation following his dismissal.

In a public notice dated January 12, 2026, and published in the dailies, MCSK’s board of directors said Mutua has continued to present himself as the society’s CEO to members, partners and the public, creating confusion over his role in the society despite his dismissal.

“The Music Copyright Society of Kenya Limited (MCSK) Board of Directors raises concern over continued public misinformation by Ezekiel Mutua, who was dismissed as an employee of MCSK by the Board of Directors on 03 April 2025. MCSK Board of Directors notes that despite the dismissal and its subsequent affirmation by two High Court rulings in May 2025 after being challenged, Ezekiel Mutua has persisted in presenting himself to the public as MCSK’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO),” reads the notice in part.

The board cautioned members, stakeholders, partners, and the public, stating, “Ezekiel Mutua is no longer an employee of MCSK and does not have any authority to transact any business for and on behalf of MCSK.”

“MCSK Board of Directors kindly urges MCSK Members, Stakeholders, Partners and the public to remain vigilant and careful so as not to be misled and or misrepresented to enter into commitments and or financial or otherwise with Ezekiel Mutua either as an employee and or representative of MCSK.”

The society also clarified that it will not be liable for any losses, damages, or injuries incurred by anyone who transacts with Mutua in the name of MCSK.

“Disclaimer is hereby issued to MCSK Members, stakeholders, partners and the public that MCSK shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury incurred for transacting with Ezekiel Mutua in the name of MCSK,” reads the notice.

Mutua was appointed as MCSK CEO in March 2022 following a competitive recruitment process. Before joining MCSK, he served as CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) until August 2021.
