ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Monday skipped the ODM party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting held in Kilifi, exposing the growing split in the Orange party as it heads to 2027.

Apart from Sifuna, other members of the CMC  who failed to show up included Vice Chairperson Otiende Amollo, Ruth Odinga,  Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Ledama Ariko.

During the meeting, Senator Oburu emphasised the importance of internal consultation, unity of purpose and principled leadership, insisting that ODM would continue engaging its membership and the public in shaping policy and strategy.

He defended the party’s engagement with the Kenya Kwanza government, arguing that dialogue was aimed at securing political and development gains for ODM supporters.

Senator Sifuna and a section of ODM leaders, said to be allied to Ida Odinga and the Raila Odinga family, are opposed to ODM’s engagement with President Ruto and are working round the clock to ensure the party abandons its working relationship with UDA before 2027.
