MV Odyssey Cruise ship docked along berth number one at the port of Mombasa with 609 students and 183 crew on board.

Three Kenyan students are among those on board from India in a cultural education experience courtesy of Magical Kenya brand as the ship is on its way to Cape Town in South Africa.
Jasmine Janet told the media at the modern, state-of-the-art cruise terminal that she is in her last semester as a law student at Mombasa campus. She said she boarded the ship from India with the task of teaching her colleagues the country’s culture during the trip.
Her focus was on teaching the national language and the country’s traditional attire.
“I have been teaching the basics on our traditional African attire,” she pointed out.
Jasmine has been sharing the experience with her comrades about the foodstuff they expect to have a taste of during their stay during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan 2026 season.
She told them they will have the experience of the Kiswahili language and of local dancers and the kind of foodstuff they will get at local restaurants at the port city during their stay.
“Also the experience of our people, our heritage and our wildlife,” she added.
