Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i will make his first appearance this year in the Gusii region this Friday, 2nd May, after quietly jetting back into the country from the United States two weeks ago.

According to a statement from Team Matiang’i Secretariat, the Uhuru era CS will be accompanied by all elected leaders from the Gusii region, and he will pay a visit to the Kisii and Nyamira County offices.

”Dr Matiang’i will be accompanied by all elected leaders from the region, including Governors Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo. Senators Moima Onyonka and Okong’o Omogeni as well as Members of Parliament and Members of County Assembly,” the statement reads in part.

Dr. Matiang’i, who has been endorsed by the former ruling Jubilee Party as its 2027 flagbearer, will also meet the people in key stopovers such as Kijauri, Keroka, Keumbu, Kisii Town, and Nyamira.

Kisii Senator Moima Onyoka, his Nyamira counterpart Okong’o Omogeni, MPs Anthony Kibagendi, Anthony Gesesa, and Jacob Bagaka are coordinating the visit.

Earlier in the week, Matiang’i joined key opposition figures, including ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, for a crucial meeting in Nairobi over 2027 plans.

Other leaders who attended include Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua (PLP), Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-K), Mukhisa Kituyi, Former CSs Mithika Linturi and  Justin Muturi.
