
Traffic along Mombasa Road in Nairobi

The Nairobi traffic police have announced several road closures and diversions ahead of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2025. The closures are aimed at easing traffic flow and ensuring security during the event.
Road Closures (From 6:00 AM until end of the event):
Aerodrome Road: Closed from Madaraka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout, Lang’ata Road: Closed one way from Madaraka Roundabout to Lusaka Roundabout,Mombasa Road: Closed one way from Lusaka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout.
There will be traffic diversions: Motorists from Mombasa Road heading to CBD will use Likoni Road–Enterprise Road at General Motors or Southern Bypass at Ole Sereni.
Motorists from Lang’ata Road heading to CBD to use Raila Odinga Road or Muhoho Road via Mbagathi Roundabout.
Motorists from CBD to Thika Road, Ruiru, Juja, and Thika will go through Limuru Road or Kiambu Road.
Public service vehicles ferrying passengers to Kasarani Stadium will use Ruaraka Baba-Dogo Road, then Ngomongo Road to Ngomongo Roundabout.
Motorists from Thika Road heading to other parts of the city will use Eastern Bypass, Kiambu Road, or Limuru Road.
Motorists are urged to plan their routes early and follow police instructions.
