The police are investigating a bizarre incident in Eldoret Town, in which a man received a parcel containing three human fingers tied together with six live bullets.
The recipient told the police that, on Friday, an unknown man had called him to say that he had a parcel for him.
After providing his location, the recipient was informed that a rider had been dispatched to deliver the package.
While the recipient was in a bar, the rider called to say he had arrived.
When the man opened the envelope, he discovered three human fingers and bullets inside.
The police officers who attended the scene confirmed that the parcel contained three fingers, a forefinger, a ring finger and a little finger, all from a left hand, as well as four 7.62 mm and two 9 mm live bullets. There was no written message inside.
The fingers were taken to the mortuary at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for verification, while the bullets were sent for ballistic testing.
The sender remains unidentified.
The police have questioned the rider and are trying to trace the sender, who has switched off their phone.
The authorities have yet to determine the motive or the identity of the owner of the fingers.
Fingerprints have been taken from the fingers for further analysis, suggesting that a person may have been killed or mutilated.
