Chief Justice Martha Koome has expressed her delight at reuniting with judges from across the country during this year’s Judges’ Colloquium, describing the gathering as a vital moment for reflection, learning, and strengthening bonds within the Judiciary.
Speaking during the opening session, the Chief Justice said the annual colloquium allows judges of the Superior Courts to step away from the rigours of daily judicial work and reconnect in an environment that fosters collegiality and professional growth.
“I am truly delighted to be here with all of you today. This colloquium is always a cherished occasion, a reunion that allows us to reconnect, reflect, learn, and exchange experiences from our diverse court stations,” she said.
Justice Koome extended a special welcome to newly appointed judges, noting that their entry into the Judiciary was not only a personal milestone but also a strengthening of the institution. She encouraged them to feel at home and embrace the spirit of solidarity that defines the Judiciary family.
At the same time, the Chief Justice led the judges in paying tribute to two colleagues who passed away since the last colloquium—Hon. Justice David Majanja and Hon. Justice Daniel Ogembo.
“Their untimely passing remains a great loss to the Judiciary family,” she said, calling for a moment of silence in their honour while affirming their enduring legacy of service and commitment to justice.
