Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a dramatic return to Kenya yesterday, touching down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport amid heightened political tension and heavy security deployment.
His arrival, long anticipated after weeks abroad, drew both supporters and detractors to the airport. Crowds chanting pro-Gachagua slogans clashed verbally with rival groups, forcing police to intervene and cordon off sections of the arrival terminal.
Government officials had earlier signaled that Gachagua would be questioned over his recent explosive claims linking senior Kenyan leaders to meetings with foreign militant groups. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen insisted that law enforcement agencies were prepared to maintain order and protect citizens.
Despite the looming threats of arrest and possible interrogation, Gachagua appeared unfazed, waving to supporters and vowing to “continue speaking the truth.”
