Popular Luo musician Javan Mac Ajudo and members of his crew were on Friday involved in a fatal road accident at Harambee Market in Nyakach, along the Katito–Kendu Bay route.

The crash involved a vehicle carrying the musician and his team, which knocked down a boda boda rider who died on the spot.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was travelling at high speed before the impact, sending shockwaves through the busy market area and drawing a large crowd of residents.

Some locals alleged that the occupants of the vehicle appeared intoxicated at the time of the accident, claims that have not been independently verified.

Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash. The body of the deceased boda boda rider was later moved to a local mortuary.

The accident has reignited concerns over speeding and road safety along the Katito–Kendu Bay road, which residents say has recorded several serious crashes, especially near market centres.

By the time of going to press, neither the musician nor his management had issued a statement on the incident as investigations continued.
