Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has expressed concern over growing cases of insecurity in the city’s central business district (CBD), urging residents and business owners to stay alert and report suspicious activity.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Governor Sakaja said his administration is working closely with law enforcement agencies to step up patrols and improve safety in the city center.

“We have received increased reports of incidents in the CBD. I want to assure Nairobians that security measures are being reinforced. At the same time, I ask members of the public to remain vigilant,” Sakaja told reporters.

The governor encouraged residents to make use of the toll-free line 988 to report emergencies, criminal activity, or suspicious behavior. “The line is open 24/7 and every report helps us act faster,” he said.

Sakaja added that the county government is liaising with national security agencies to ensure hotspots are closely monitored, and promised regular updates to keep the public informed.

“We all have a role in keeping our city safe. Security begins with each one of us, and with timely reporting we can protect lives and livelihoods in the CBD,” he emphasized.
