A painter who allegedly attacked and seriously injured his ex-girlfriend’s estranged husband is facing charges of causing grievous harm contrary to section 234 of the Penal Code.

Livingstone Wafula is accused of causing life threatening injuries to David Kamau who he threw down a steep cliff along Thika Superhighway at Roasters area in Kasarani Sub County within Nairobi on August 11.

The court had warned the accused person that the offence he was charged with is serious and he could be punished with life sentence if he pleaded guilty or if convicted upon trial.

He denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Stephany Bett of the Makadara law courts.

He was released on a bond of Sh200, 000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh100, 000 to await the hearing that starts on February 10, 2026.

Kamau was walking home along the Thika Superhighway when he found his estranged wife flirting with her ex-lover, Wekesa.

He walked away from them as they pursued him and jilted Wafula, caught up with him and allegedly threw Kamau down the cliff causing him to fall into the middle of the highway.

Kamau narrowly escaped being knocked by speeding motorists after he fell on the speed lanes but sustained multiple fractures.

The complainant was rescued by members of the public before he was rushed to a hospital by a Good Samaritan.

Wafula allegedly held grudges against Kamau who had earlier married the woman at the centre of the nearly fatal love triangle.
