President Kenyatta joins several African leaders in Tanzania to mourn Magufuli
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday joined several African leaders at Tanzania’s Uhuru Stadium, for the Late President John Pombe Magufuli’s state public viewing.
As plans of Magufuli send-off get underway, Kenya’s president, in the company of CS Adan Mohammed joined Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, azarus Chakwera of Malawi, Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana, Edgar Lungu of Zambia and Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa, DR Congo’s Felix Tshisekedi, amongst other Africa’s head of states are in the occasion.
They say that when a hero dies, a library burns to the ground. To the late Tanzania’s president John Pombe Magufuli,it’s evident on account of the tributes paid to him by Africa’s mourning leaders.
When curtains fell on Magufuli on March 17,both public figures and members of the public caused traffic on social media with tributes and wishes of farewell to him.
“We’re here to mourn and comfort you for loosing a leader who was a true friend.He was not only committed to the Tanzania’s weelbeing but also for the East African region.It si unfortunate we have lost him.” Uhuru said while paying homage to Magufuli.
President Kenyatta, who chairs the East African Community, received a state welcome and signed in the funeral book immediately upon arrival.
Magufuli’s body,for the whole of today 22nd March,will be at Uhuru grounds,Dodoma for viewing before proceeding to Mwanza on 23rd.
On the same date(23rd of March),the body will be transferred to his Chato town for the same reason.
Members of the family,together with other international invited guests will have an exclusive chance to accord their last respects on the whole of 24th March.
On Friday 19th,Tanzania’s history and that of East Africa was rewritten.
Samia Suluhu Hassan,previously serving as the country’s Vice President was sworn in as the president of the republic of Tanzania,persuant to Chapter 2 of it’s constitution,article 47(1)(c)
“There shall be a Vice-President, who shall perform the matters in the United Republic generally and, in particular shall perform all the duties and functions of the office of President when the President is out of office or out o the country. “She now makes the first woman President in both Tanzania and East Africa as well.
President John Pombe Magufuli will be laid to rest on Thursday 25th March in his ancestral home in Chato District as per the country’s new head of state’s announcement.
