Barack Obama’s step-mum, Keziah Obama, dies

Keziah Aoko Obama the step mother of former US President Barrack Obama is dead.
Mrs Obama died on Tuesday, April 13 while receiving treatment at a UK hospital, the family has confirmed.
The 81 year old is survived by four children; Malik Abong’o Obama, Auma Obama, Mustapha Abo and Sadik Obama.
Relatives said the matriarch had been ailing for a while.
Her death comes barely two weeks after the demise of the family’s great grandmother, Mama Sarah Obama, which occurred on 29th March 2021.
Abo on his twitter handle eulogized his mom as a loving and happy person.
“Words cannot describe your love and infectious smile. Go well Nyagendia, Nyar Kendu Bay,” he said.
It is unclear whether the deceased, who is a Muslim, will be buried on Wednesday, April 14 in the UK in compliance with Islamic tradition or if her remains will be transported and buried at her ancestral home in Siaya.
Kenya and the UK have recently had a diplomatic spat, with either country issuing travel restrictions against the other.
This therefore raises doubt on the possibility of Keziah being flown to Kenya for burial ceremony especially after suspension of flights to the UK by the Kenya Airways.
“Once it becomes clear on where our mother will be buried, we will inform Kenyans,” a relative offered.
Keziah Aoko Obama was the wife to former US President Barack Obama’s father, Barack Obama Senior.
